National Recognition:
The Cincinnati Reds offensive and defensive star 1st baseman Joey Votto received recognition tonight on the Baseball in America preshow. Votto has reached base safely in 60 of his last 64 games. Votto is also leading the National League in many categories including walks, doubles, OBP, and not to mention OPS. According to ESPN, Votto is on pace to have a Babe Ruth type of season. Yes, that's right. Babe Ruth. Votto is expected to have 201 hits and about 130 walks this season. The only other man to do that was indeed, Babe Ruth.
Now, Cincinnati Reds fans are aware of Joey Votto's greatest and how he's a possible MVP candidate and winner. Do you think Votto receives more than enough national recognition about his Babe Ruth-type year? Or does he receive nothing? Let us know!
Conclusion:
The Pirates and the Cardinals both won tonight, so the Reds remain on top of the NL Central just 4 games ahead of the rival teams. The Reds are now 10 games over .500. Brandon Phillips continued his career hitting streak against the Mets tonight, now making it a 19-game hitting streak.
Don't forget to vote reds!
