Day 66: Rolen on the River

"I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter." Crash Davis (Bull Durham 1988)

Tonight the Reds move from sweeping the Mets to Cleveland to take on the Indians. The Reds are looking to continue their current winning streak. The Indians are just a game over .500.

Mat Latos (5-2, 4.64 ERA) is facing the Indians for the second time this season. Last time he faced the Indians, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits. He pitched 7 innings and struck out 7. Mat Latos buzzed pitcher Derek Lowe and a fued between Dusty Baker and Lowe became public. Baker told the press that he ordered Latos to "make him feel uncomfortable," but not necessarily hit him. Lowe hit Brandon Phillips in the back in the bottom of that same inning, resulting in warnings to both teams. Since the Reds have to use a designated hitter, I doubt there will be any brawls or immature intentional hits.

Derek Lowe (7-5, 3.78 ERA) had some control issues in his last outing against the Reds. He walked 6 in 6 innings. His career against Cincinnati is 4-4 with a 4.29 ERA and has struck out 36.

Rolen Reinstated from DL:
Scott Rolen has not played since May 11 because of a strained left shoulder. Rolen made two starts in Triple A Louisville and went 2-for-6 with a home run. Before being placed on the disabled list, Rolen was hitting .174 with just 2 home runs and 11 RBIs.

TONIGHT'S REDS LINE UP:
